Pallister Park Primary School

Early Years Foundation Stage

Happy beginnings, lifelong learning. Our EYFS curriculum is sequentially designed to recognise each child’s prior learning and build on their experiences at home, helping every child develop resilience, ambition, and integrity from the very start.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and protect each child’s characteristics within our school community, something acknowledged within our IQM Inclusion Award. Our belief is simple: first experiences of school should be happy, positive, and the foundation of a lifelong love of learning.

Our intentions for every child

Partnership with families

To work closely with parents and carers to encourage independent, happy learners who thrive in school and reach their full potential from their various starting points.

Carefully sequenced learning

To consider the sequence of knowledge and skills children need to make progress towards the early learning goals; building on what each child already knows and can do.

Child-led discovery

To follow children’s interests and provide opportunities throughout our EYFS curriculum that support, consolidate, and deepen learning, ensuring every child meets their next steps in sequence.

Environments that invite learning

To create indoor and outdoor spaces designed to spark curiosity, build independence, and support every area of learning, whatever the weather or the season.

Confident transition into KS1

To prepare every child for the next stage not just academically, but socially and emotionally, so that moving into Year 1 feels like the next exciting step, not a leap into the unknown.

First-hand experiences at the heart of everything

Skills & Knowledge

The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of skills, knowledge, concepts, and values woven together so that children build understanding, not just facts.

First-Hand Experiences

We provide enhancement opportunities to engage learning; real, tangible experiences that bring the curriculum to life and give children something genuine to build their understanding on.

Inclusion & IQM Award

Every child’s individual characteristics are celebrated and protected. Our approach to inclusion is recognised by the IQM Inclusion Quality Mark because belonging matters from day one.

Your partnership makes all the difference

We believe that parents and carers are a child’s first educator. Initial meetings help us understand your child and show you everything we offer. We hold two Consultation Evenings each year and provide an end-of-year report. We use the SeeSaw app to keep you updated with how your child is doing day to day.

We are always available for advice and support. Contact the school office to arrange a meeting. We want you to feel as welcome in this school as your child does.

What families say about coming in to school

I found it really useful seeing how the lessons take place and how my child learns each new sound. I was able to take resources from his teacher which helps a lot at home – I’m now saying the same as his teacher. My child now enjoys learning at home too.

Parent

The parent phonics lesson was amazing – the best thing I’ve ever done in school. It was so lovely seeing my child doing phonics. Such a huge relief to watch his teachers and know I’m doing it right at home. We’ve started using Fred fingers and it’s so easy now. Coming in has helped me understand such a massive part of my child’s life.

Inside and outside – every space is a learning space

Our Classroom

Inviting, purposeful, and arranged to encourage independent exploration. Every corner of our indoor space is designed to support a different area of learning and let children direct their own discovery.

Our Outdoor Space

Learning doesn’t stop at the door. Our outdoor environment gives children the freedom to be active, creative, and curious, building physical skills, confidence, and a love of being outdoors across every season.

Transition into KS1

We plan carefully for the move into Year 1 ensuring children are socially, emotionally, and academically ready for the next stage, and that the transition feels like a natural, positive step forward.

Our belief is simple: first experiences of school should be happy, positive, and the start of something that lasts a lifetime.
