Pallister Park Primary School

50 Things to Do Before You Leave (all included, all free)

Childhood should be an adventure. At Pallister Park, every child has 50 experiences woven into their time with us; all included, at no cost to families, because opportunity should be accessible to everyone.

These are not occasional treats. They are a deliberate, curriculum-linked programme of experiences designed to give every child memories, knowledge, and confidence that last long after they leave us.

Recent adventures have included:

  • Stone Age cave exploration
  • Forest school — outdoor learning across the seasons
  • Science investigations
  • Sporting events and activities
  • Castles, coastlines, and cultural visits

“The school designs its wider curriculum to encompass and facilitate ‘50 things to do’. These 50 experiences are thoughtfully linked to the curriculum.” Ofsted 2024

Reading at the Heart of Everything

We believe every child is a reader. Not every child arrives believing that about themselves — and that is exactly why we work so hard to make it true.

  • Daily story time that brings the curriculum alive through narrative
  • Expert phonics teaching that builds genuine confidence, one sound at a time
  • Books carefully matched to every child’s ability — so reading always feels achievable
  • A birthday and Christmas book for every child, every year

“The school prioritises a love of reading. All pupils receive a book for their birthday and at Christmas.” — Ofsted 2024

“A reader lives a thousand lives before they die.” — George R.R. Martin

Celebrating Every Child — Above and Beyond

Our ‘Above and Beyond’ awards celebrate not just academic achievement but character — kindness, effort, perseverance, and courage. Every child will be celebrated here. Not just the loudest or the fastest or the highest-scoring, but every child.

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” — A.A. Milne

Your Child’s Voice Matters Here

At Pallister Park, children are not passive recipients of their education. We believe that every child, regardless of age, ability, or background, has something important to say, and that being genuinely listened to is part of what makes a child feel they truly belong.

When difficulties arise, between children, or between a child and their learning, our first instinct is to listen, understand, and work through it together. Children are supported to find resolutions themselves, to understand the impact of their actions, and to turn challenging moments into genuine learning opportunities. This is not a soft option. It takes skilled adults and confident children. We have both.

Our Junior Leadership Team

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) is the most visible expression of this. These are children who have a real say in the life of the school; an active group whose ideas are taken seriously and acted upon. It was the JLT who pushed for new exercise equipment and planting on the playground. They saw a need, made their case, and it happened. That is what genuine pupil voice looks like.

But pupil voice at Pallister Park is not just for JLT members. It is the expectation for every child, every day; in classrooms, in the playground, and in how we resolve difficulties together. Your child will know that their opinion counts, that they can speak up, and that the adults around them will listen.

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” — Dr. Seuss
