Remote Education Provision

Our approach to remote education, when it applies, how it works, and what parents and carers can expect.

In the event of a full or partial school closure, we are committed to ensuring that your child’s education continues with minimal disruption. Where possible, we will provide access to high-quality online learning resources for all or part of our school community, keeping learning on track and pupils engaged with their studies

When remote education may be provided

Occasions when we decide that opening our school is not possible to do safely, or is contradictory to guidance from local or central government we will provide remote learning. It may also apply in cases where an individual pupil, for a limited duration, is unable to physically attend school but is able to continue learning. These situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Important to know

Remote education is always a last resort — being in school is our priority

Pupils on remote education are marked as absent

All remote education requires mutual agreement between school, parents and, where appropriate, a medical professional

A time limit will always be set, with a clear aim to return the pupil to school

What we will put in place

Mutual agreement

Remote education requires the agreement of school, parents and carers and, where appropriate, a relevant medical professional. If the pupil has an EHC plan or social worker, the Local Authority will also be involved in the decision.

Regular review

Formal arrangements will be put in place to regularly review the remote education and identify how best to reintegrate the pupil back into school at the earliest opportunity.

Time limit set

A clear time limit will always be established, with an aim that the pupil returns to in-person education with appropriate support in place.

Reintegration focus

We will identify what additional support and flexibilities can be put in place to help the pupil return to school and settle back in as smoothly as possible.

What teachers will do when remote learning is in place

Provide pupils with access to remote education as soon as reasonably practicable, though in proportion to the length of the absence and the impact on all learners

Make reasonable adjustments for pupils with SEND to access remote education where required, informed by the support families will need and the types of services that can be accessed remotely
