School Direct Training

The MSTA puts Middlesbrough schools at the heart of training and recruiting future generations of teachers to work in the area. As part of an Alliance students are supported throughout their training by experts who are already in the teaching profession.

The MSTA training partnership is made up of schools from across Middlesbrough including primary, and special schools. It is led by Pallister Park Primary School.

The School Direct Training is run in partnership with York St John University who provide university based modules throughout the year. At the end of the course you will not only have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but also a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) which is 60 credits towards gaining a Masters qualification.

Who best to guide you than teachers who are in schools and love their job?

As part of our School Direct program you are not just an individual within a cohort of students. You belong to an alliance who will provide support and advice throughout your year. You are also matched to a ‘home’ school and mentor who will be there to offer expert advice and guidance.

Train in the area you wish to work.

As part of the MSTA’s School Direct program you will have training, visits and observations within a range of schools in Middlesbrough, enabling you to see first-hand the excellent practice in our schools. Head Teachers from our partner schools are not only involved in the delivery of training and mentoring but also part of the application process. As an alliance we all work together to shape the teachers of the future to ensure that you are not only ready for the challenges that are part of the role but also have a depth of experience to enable you to progress throughout a career in teaching.

Why train with us?

Members of the MST Alliance are passionate about teaching and wish to recruit the best quality, enthusiastic and dedicated teachers into the profession. Working alongside highly skilled teachers in their own schools will enable you to observe and learn from teachers who are dedicated to providing the best outcomes for our children. You will understand the expectations and remit of the role first hand, from teaching core subjects to going on school visits and parents evenings.

As part of our cohort you will experience the diverse range of provision and also be able to bring what is taught in sessions straight into practice within your placements.

We are very proud of our School Direct program within Middlesbrough as we all work together to ensure you are guided into the profession and are able to enjoy a career working with children and shaping their future.

We match individuals to schools. Everyone is different and has a range of skills and experience to offer and we pride ourselves on making sure you are in the right school to enhance your skills and develop.

What are the entry requirements?
